Scattery Island Up For Major Tourism Award Today

Scattery Island is in the running for a major tourism award today.

The West Clare attraction is one of three finalists to be named the Irish winner of the European EDEN competition – which honours sustainable tourism development.

The historic monastic island in the Shannon Estuary has been uninhabited since 1969 and has since been developed as a tourist destination, with a regular ferry service.
