Scarriff Woman’s Life Turned Around By Back To Education Bursary

A Scarriff woman who has returned to education after leaving school in her Junior Cert year says she’s determined to show her children that anything is possible.

Shirley Costello left school at a young age after becoming pregnant and now, thanks to a 1916 bursary fund, is in her first year of a college degree.

She is studying Renewable Energy and Electrical Engineering in Limerick Institute of Technology, a four year degree, after which she plans to embark on a new career.
