Ryanair has announced that it has agreed to recognise pilots’ unions in a bid to avert a pre-Christmas strike.

Pilots based in Dublin plan to walk off the job next Wednesday in the row over collective bargaining rights, although there have been conflicting reports on whether Shannon and Cork would be affected.

The airline has now announced that it will recognise pilots’ unions in Ireland, as well as in the UK, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Germany and has asked them to call off their industrial action.
