Ross Insists Shannon Airport Change Isn’t Downgrade

The Transport Minister has insisted that a change in the categorisation of Shannon Airport doesn’t amount to downgrading.

Sinn Féin and others have queried the move which will see a lowering of Shannon’s status from Category 9 to Category 7 for part of the time.

It means that the Airport will not be able to take some of the largest aircraft types when operating at the lower status.
