Ross Hopeful Of Adare’s Ryder Cup Chances

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and Sports Minister Shane Ross have taken part in meetings which could see one of the world’s premier sporting events come to the MidWest.

JP McManus is looking to host the 2026 Ryder Cup at his recently redeveloped Adare Manor Golf Club, and as the bid is being put in place, the senior government figures recently met with PGA European Tour officials in Paris.

Details of the meeting have been unveiled by Minister Ross during a discussion in the Seanad in which he accepted that if the event were secured for Ireland, then local roads infrastructure – and in particular the Limerick-Cork motorway – would need to be examined.

He sounded an optimistic note when assessing Adare Manor’s chances of securing the Ryder Cup.
