The Road Safety Authority says there are no plans to open a second NCT test centre in Clare.
Calls had been made in March, led by West Clare Fine Gael Councillor Gabriel Keating, who said a second centre was needed to prevent the need for drivers in the area to make long trips.
Now, however, the Road Safety Authority has confirmed to Clare County Council that the current NCT service provider, Applus, has no plans to open another test centre here.
