“Grave Concern” Over Changes To Clare Speed Limits

Grave concern has been expressed that recent changes to speed limits could could pose a greater risk of accidents on some Clare roads.

It follows a two-year consultation, which looked at a wide range of roads across the county and heard a wide range of views from local communities and public representatives.

West Clare Firefighter Paul Moroney has pointed to the Ennis to Kilrush Road as being particularly dangerous, saying there are up to 11 speed changes on the 43 kilometre route.

Paul, who’s also a former Kilrush Town Councillor has acknowledged the need for restrictions, but he says that two weeks in, he’s already seeing the negative impact of the speed changes on the roads.
