One Injured Following Two-Car Collision Near Kilrush

Update 2:30pm: Road has fully reopened 

One person is being taken to hospital following a road crash on the outskirts of Kilrush.

Emergency services are still at the scene of the incident, which occurred shortly after 11 o’clock this morning.

The two-car collision happened at Carnane’s Cross on the main Kilrush to Kilkee road, around a mile and a half outside of Kilrush.

Gardaí, ambulance services and two units from Kilrush Fire Station attended the scene.

A woman, who was the driver of one of the cars, is to be taken by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick with injuries that are not believed to be serious.

There are no reports of any other injuries.

Gardaí remain at the scene and say the road will be closed for some time until it has been cleared.

Diversions are in place and motorists are advised to travel via the Doonbeg Road where possible.
