Revenue Seize Drugs Worth €51,000 At Shannon Airport

51,000 euro worth of drugs has been seized at Shannon Airport by Revenue Officers.

Two kilograms of Kratom in vacuum packed blocks,  with an estimated street value of 46,000 euro, was uncovered.

The drug, which can have cocaine-like stimulant effects, was destined for an address in Co Mayo.

While a further 10,400 euro worth of Kratom in loose powder form, with a Tipperary address was also seized.

The drugs originated from Austria and Luxembourg and were discovered by Revenue officers during routine checks.

It’s the second seizure of kratom by Revenue Officers at Shannon Airport in ten days.

On Friday June 9th, as part of routine operations, four kilograms of the drug worth almost 81 thousand euro were uncovered in a consignment which had been flown in from Luxembourg.
