Restrictions In Place For Ennis Parade

With Ennis set to play host to the largest St Patrick’s Day Parade in the County, traffic restrictions have been in put in place by Gardaí.

Large events in the town in recent weeks have caused delays due to traffic and parking mis-management, and it’s hoped that this can be avoid tomorrow.

Member of the Clare Garda Traffic Corps, Sergeant Darragh Molloy has been telling Clare FM’s Conor Quaid about the traffic plan.

Meanwhile, Businesses in Ennis are being urged to play their part in helping to reduce anti-soical behaviour in the town this St Patrick’s Day.

Councillor Mary Howard claims visitors and spectators have in recent years been sprayed with shaving foam and silly string, while shop owners have been intimidated by young people blocking paths.

75 local businesses signed a petition calling for a greater Garda presence on the streets of the county town a number of years ago, amid concerns that visitors to the town didn’t feel safe, due to the behaviour of teenagers.

Councillor Howard is urging businesses to be sensible, and refrain from selling products that could ultimately impact on the reputation of the town.
