A meeting is taking place in West Clare this evening to discuss the future of the Catholic Church in the area, at what’s described as a “crucial point” for rural life.
The Críocha Callan Cluster is made up of the parishes of Kilmurry Ibrickane, Miltown Malbay, Kilmaley and Inagh Kilnamona.
The parishes are each struggling in terms of priest shortages and the concern is that the problem will be compounded in the years to come.
Kilmurry Ibrickane priest Fr Donagh O’Meara believes there needs to be a serious look at how the church in Ireland is going to develop going forward:
That meeting takes place in Miltown Malbay Community Hall this evening from 7:30pm.
