Record 76 Patients On Trolleys At Region’s Main Hospital

The region’s main hospital is suffering from near-record levels of overcrowding today.

The latest figures from the INMO show 76 patients were left waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 54 of those on trolleys in the emergency department alone.

The overall figure is 35 more than the next busiest facility.

Its the highest number of patients waiting to be admitted there so far this year, and falls just short of the record number of 80 this month last year.
