Thousands of people braved the weather in Clare’s County Town yesterday in an effort to dance their way into the Guinness Book of Records.

The event at the Fairgreen was in danger of being a washout due to the persistent downpours but it didn’t stop young and old from stepping out to participate in the Siege of Ennis.

The aim was to gather ten thousand people on the streets in order to break the current record but unfortunately the weather wasn’t for everyone and the finally tally was over five and a half thousand.

However, it was all in a good cause with all monies being raised going to the Special Olympics

The organisers say they will attempt the record again in the coming months
