A Quilty widower is being ordained as a deacon for the Diocese of Killaloe this weekend.
Martin Shanahan entered the seminary in Maynooth in 2015, after losing his wife Mary Margaret in 2011 and has a son Eoin, who is a college student.
Having spent many years volunteering in community groups and church organisations, he will embark on his the next phase in his ordination at Ennis Cathedral tomorrow at 12 noon.
