Protests As Government Neglects UN Disability Treaty

Clare disabilities campaigners will be among those taking part in a protest outside Leinster House today over the Government’s failure to ratify a UN treaty.

The UN Convention on the Rights Of Persons With Disabilities was signed by the Irish government 10 years ago, but successive administrations have failed to ratify it.

Ireland is the only country in the EU which hasn’t fully adopted the treaty, which guarantees the right to promote, protect and ensure the full and equal enjoyment of all human rights by people with disabilities.
