Power Returned To All Clare Homes Following Storm Ophelia

The ESB says power has returned to all homes in Clare following Storm Ophelia.

Over ten thousand homes were without power at various stages since the beginning of the hurricane force winds on Monday and crews have been working around the clock to restore supply to the final homes last evening.

The company says however that some repairs are temporary, and further work will be carried out over the coming four days, which may result in some customers experiencing further short outages.

Local Area Manager Robert Grimes says there may be remaining faults they haven’t been made aware of and he’s encouraging anyone with ongoing issues to contact them:

Meanwhile, motorists are being advised to drive with care on the county’s roads this afternoon.

A low level yellow weather remains in place for Clare until midnight tonight.

Met Éireann is forecasting up to 50 millimetres of rain throughout the day with a risk of flooding in some places.

Gardaí say there’s surface water on many roads, particularly the Kilrush Road near Ennis.

It comes ahead of Storm Brian, which is expected hit our shores over the weekend.
