Power Expected To Be Restored To All In Clare By Evening

Power is expected to be restored to all homes in Clare by around 5 o’clock this evening.

70 properties around the county remain without electricity this afternoon, following damage caused during Storm Ophelia.

The ESB has been working to repair faults on the line caused by the hurricane-force winds – around 130,000* homes and businesses nationwide are still without power.

Meanwhile, a number of water outages are being experienced across the county this afternoon.

Customers in areas including Ballyvaughan, Spanish Point, Bealaha and Cooraclare are without supply today.

Irish Water says the outages in this county haven’t been caused by Ophelia.

Meanwhile, calls are being made locally for an emergency plan to be out in place to ensure that those without a permanent roof over their head have safe shelter in future storms.

Meanwhile, a low level status yellow weather warning in place for Clare for tomorrow.

Met Éireann has forecast heavy with accumulations of up to 50 millimeters of rain.

The alert is in place from midnight tonight until midnight Thursday.
