Post-Mortem Due Following Recovery Of Body From Killaloe Canal

A postmortem examination is due to be carried out today on the body of a man recovered from a canal in Killaloe.

The alarm was raised yesterday morning, when Gardaí received a report of a person in the water.

Emergency services were alerted around 9 o’clock yesterday morning following reports of a person in the water, close to the bridge in Killaloe.

Gardaí travelled to the scene and requested assistance from the Irish Coast Guard.

The Killaloe unit of the volunteer service was dispatched to the scene and quickly located the body.

The man, believed to be in his 60’s, was pronounced dead and his body was removed to University Hospital Limerick for a postmortem examination.

It’s understood the man had been living in accommodation locally. Gardaí are treating the death as a personal tragedy.
