Positive Welcome For Clare’s Rural Development Plan

There’s been a largely positive welcome to Clare’s new Rural Development Strategy.

The ambitious plan was launched yesterday and aims to target employment and insfrastructure in isolated parts of the county.

It has been hailed as an example for other counties but some say even more could have been done.

The 10-year plan aims to inject some life back into rural parts of this county through a number of initiatives.

The most significant is to facilitate the creation of 4,000 jobs over the next ten years – while it also looks at boosting vital services.

The Council believes this targets can be met, but CEO of Clare Local Development Company Doirin Graham believes broadband and other services are essential to allow this happen.

Meanwhile, Councillors Tom McNamara, Pat McMahon, Joe Cooney and Christy Curin these councillors from around the county are confident the plan will make a difference.
