The US Vice-President is expected to stay in Clare during his two-day visit to Ireland next month.

While details surrounding Mike Pence’s Irish trip are not yet set in stone, he’s expected to arrive in Dublin on Friday, September 6th, following visits to Iceland and Britain.

The Irish Times reports that is envisaged that he will meet Taioseach Leo Varadkar at Farmleigh in the Phoenix Park, while a courtesy call with President Michael D Higgins is also under consideration.

Mr Pence, who’s grandmother’s family hailed from Doonbeg, is expected to fly to Shannon later that day and base himself in Clare for the remainder of his trip, though preparations are still at planning stage.
