Counting is continuing in the Seanad elections this lunchtime, with focus today on the Industrial and Commercial panel.

Former Clare Fianna Fáil TD Timmy Dooley is still in the running for one of nine seats on this panel.

His party mate, Lahinch hotelier Michael Vaughanhas been eliminated following the fifth count in the past few minutes.

Dooley currently sits on 35,000 votes; with Vaughan’s 3,000 now to be distributed, while the quota to be deemed elected is 113,501.

Nobody has come near that figure yet but there are currently 11 candidates with higher tallies than Dooley, meaning he may well be relying on Fianna Fáil transfers to be in with a chance of a Seanad seat.
