Deadline Looms For Registering To Vote In Clare

Voters in Clare are being reminded that today is the final day to get on the register and ensure they can cast their vote on February 8th.

A completed form must be with Clare County Council by 5 o’clock this evening – so the local authority is warning people not to post it today as it won’t be counted.

Work is getting underway in Áras Contae an Chláir this morning, where the final register of voters is being prepared today.

The 2019/20 register is the one that will apply for this General Election and any changes are being included on the supplementary register, which is currently being compiled.

Anyone who is eligible to vote in Clare and hasn’t previously been included on the register has until 5 o’clock this evening to deliver their paperwork to the County Council.

This includes RFA2 forms, for inclusion in the supplementary register, as well as RFA3 forms for change of address.

Anything past that deadline, however, will not be considered for this election – so the postal option is now out of the question and it’s hand delivery only.

Today is also the deadline for general election candidates to declare – any last minute names must be thrown into the hat by 12 noon.
