Sitting Senator Martin Conway of Fine Gael is aiming to retain his seat while Fianna Fáil’s Timmy Dooley, who lost his Dáil seat in last month’s election, is hoping for a return to the Seanad after a 13-year absence.

They’re joined on the ticket by social exclusion activist Ann Marie Flanagan and Lahinch hotelier Michael Vaughan.

Counting begins in Dublin Castle today and will likely last until Friday.
