Clare’s Oireachtas members are being called on to ensure that the divisional headquarters of the new Clare and Tipperary Garda division is located in this county.
A steering group made up of some of the members of Clare’s Joint Policing Committee is spearheading a campaign to have the base in Ennis, which they feel is the most sensible move.
They cite the presence of Shannon Airport, as well as the population size of Ennis versus Thurles, as two of the main reasons to stake a claim.
