Clare’s GRA Rep Questions Garda Restructuring Plan

Clare’s representative on the GRA’s Central Executive Committee has questioned claims that the planned reform of An Garda Síochána will see additional officers on the beat.

Commissioner Drew Harris says the reforms will see 1800 more Garda members deployed to the front line, but the move is not without controversy because of measures including the proposed amalgamation of the Clare and Tipperary Divisions.

Last evening, elected Councillors and Oireachtas members from Clare pledged their support to keep the Divisional Headquarters in Clare, after both Divisions are combined.
