A planning application for new schools in Ennistymon have been given the go-ahead.
A new three-storey post primary school and sports hall, as well as a two-storey primary school, will be developed on a 4.9 hectare site on the Lahinch Road.
The project, which will lead to the amalgamation of the town’s three secondary schools, will also involve the demolition of the Scoil Mhuire and Ennistymon National School buildings.

Clare County Council has now approved the planning application for the project, in a move welcomed by Clare Fine Gael TD Joe Carey.
