A group of sixth class pupils from Parteen have reunited a Cork family with a long-lost death plaque of their ancestor.

Edward Lynch from Cork City was killed in action during the first World War in 1914 and somehow, his death plaque ended up on eBay last year.

Parteen National School teacher Cathal Crowe bought it and as a class project, they worked to track down the family – and Edward’s two great-nieces visited Parteen today to collect the plaque in a special ceremony.
