Nurses Say New ED Is Not Safe To Open On Monday

The INMO is calling for the opening of the new Emergency Department at the region’s main hospital to be deferred amid safety concerns.

The ED at University Hospital Limerick is due to open on Monday next, following years of campaigning, but the INMO’s Midwest Representative says there remains serious concerns.

Mary Fogarty has told Clare FM’s Morning Focus that nurses have raised concerns over staffing issues, plans to deal with trolley numbers and an insufficient number of practise runs carried out within the department ahead of it’s opening.
