Numbers Availing Of Income Supports In Clare “Highlights Dependence On Tourism Sector”

Ennis Chamber says the high number of people in this county still availing of income support speaks volumes about how dependent the county is on the tourism sector.

The latest CSO statistics show more than 23,700 people in Clare are still receiving state support, a drop of 10% since the peak in May.

12,300 claimed the pandemic unemployment support last week, a figure that will drop by 900 this week, although another 11,500 are on the live register or wage subsidy scheme.
