Visiting restrictions remain in place at Ennis General Hospital following an outbreak of the flu.

Seven cases of the virus were confirmed there last week, but that number has now been reduced to two.

The facility has assisted University Hospital Limerick by transferring patients who were symptomatic from Dooradoyle and housing them in single rooms in Ennis.

The flu outbreak is expected to peak over the coming fortnight and Operational Director of Nursing, Patricia O’Gorman has this advice for anyone who’s suffering with it.
