Norwegian Scaling Back Shannon-New York Flights

Disappointment has been expressed after Norwegian Air announced it’s scaling back some of its services from Shannon Airport.

The airline is to end daily flights from Shannon to New York’s Stewart International Airport after January 12th next, and while these flights will resume from the end of March, they’ll return on an only five-times-per-week basis.

The airline is also scaling back flights from other airports this winter, as it looks to be more competitive.

Shannon says it understands the decision, given rising fuel costs, and points out that Norwegian will still operate nine services per week to Stewart and to Providence next summer.

However, Sixmilebridge Councillor PJ Ryan says it’s still a blow for Shannon.
