Inspectors from the Department of Education visited Mary Immaculate Secondary School on October 4th last.

The co-education school has a total enrolment of 234 students and is the sole provider of secondary education in the area.

It was noted during the visit to the school that a strong emphasis is placed on student care there, while there is a commitment to the continued improvement of the learning experience.

Staff were also commended for the broad and balanced cirriculum provided and the quality of their teaching.

The Transition Year programme was also singled out for supporting students’ holistic development.

It was noted, however, that some improvement is needed in terms of the school’s board reporting to parents of pupils on their key decisions, policies and procedures.
