An inspection of a transatlantic jet forced to divert to Shannon Airport this morning has found no trace of fire on board.
American Airlines flight AA-62 was travelling from Miami in the US to Paris when the crew requested permission to divert and land at the mid-west airport, amid concerns of a fire in the cargo hold.
The flight landed safely at ten past seven this morning and the passengers were taken into the terminal building – just one flight was placed on hold and operations at Shannon were otherwise unaffected.
