No Clare Figures For Tracker Mortgage Scandal

Clare’s Independent TD has hit out over the failure of the Central Bank to reveal the number of mortgage holders in this county affected by the tracker scandal.

In what’s described by Dr Michael Harty as a “droll reply” to the Finance Minister, the Central Bank has said that it doesn’t have ‘data at the level of granularity’ that has been requested.

13,000 affected customers had been identified nationally, when the request was made, but the Bank of Ireland has since discovered an additional 6,000 cases where customers due to receive lower rates were told they were not entitled to it.
