New Shannon Runway In The Running For Engineering Award

Shannon Airport’s new runway has been shortlisted for a major engineering award.

Three quarters of the surface of the main runway at Shannon was rehabilitated in summer of last year, with the work carried out by night so flights weren’t disrupted.

The €15 million project took 26 weeks to complete.

RPS, the contractors who carried out the work, have now been shortlisted for the Engineering Project of the Year Award, facing stiff competition from the likes of Luas Cross City in Dublin.

The overall winner will be decided by an online vote and those in Clare are being urged to vote for the Shannon project on engineersireland.ie.
