A new meningitis test that cuts the diagnosis times to less than one hour is to be trialled in Belfast.
The test was developed by Queens University and means children can get the treatment they need much sooner than previously.
Researchers are now studying whether the faster diagnostic kit might replace the standard test – which takes 48 hours to come back from the lab.
