170,000 euro has been announced by the HSE for the opening of a new day centre on the grounds of Cahercalla Hospital.
The funding will allow Cuan an Chláir to respond to up to 60 elderly people a day over the course of one year, during which time, the health authority will work to secure permanent funding for beds.
It follows the announcement of 1.6 million euro in funding last year for ten new housing units on the site including four one bedroom apartments, five two bed apartments and one three bed apartment.
