NBRU Says Bus Drivers Shouldn’t Be The Enforcers Of New Laws

The Clare member of the executive of the National Bus and Rail Union says bus drivers have enough to do in driving the bus safely, besides enforcing new laws on the wearing of masks.

From yesterday it is compulsory to wear a face mask while on public transport, except for limited exceptions.

There have been a series of questions over who should police the law, although high levels of compliance were reported in Clare yesterday.

Tony O’Brien, who is also a Killaloe Fianna Fáil councillor, says drivers shouldn’t be to the ones to enforce the rules, but he’s hopeful that the public will largely comply anyways.
