NAGP Urge Government To Prioritise Contract Negotiations

The government is being accused of burying its head in the sand over the shortage of family doctors.

It comes as figures show that 29 percent of GPs in Clare are close to retirement age, while a large number of young doctors are continuing to emigrate.

The National Association of GPs wants the government to prioritise contract negotiations to ensure that job conditions encourage newly qualified medics to stay in Ireland.
