Mixed Reaction Among Clare Groups To Updated Covid Plan

Clare’s INTO Representative believes the majority of teachers will welcome the opportunity to get back to some form of normality.

Leaving Cert students and the youngest four classes in primary school will return next Monday with others staggered later in March and into April.

The Department of Education has confirmed that some 3rd class students will also return to school next Monday, in cases where there’s split classes.

This will be keep under review on a fortnightly basis and INTO Representative for Clare, Brendan Horan says a plan is in place to ensure students and staff are safe.

Meanwhile, the Department of Housing expressed a desire to see a return of home and apartment building after March 5th, with commercial construction to retuen at a later date.

But NPHET advised against this and as it stands the wider construction sector won’t return unti at least April.

Essential construction is allowed to continue, but Director of the Construction Industry Federation Southern Region, Conor O’Connell says they see no reason why the industry remains shut down.
