The Junior Transport Minister has vowed that the State will protect the future of Shannon Airport.
Minister Hildegarde Naughton has told the Oireachtas Transport Committee that engagement is underway with Airports on a €20 million portion of a connectivity fund that’s designed to support Shannon, Cork and Dublin Airports.
This week, a Shannon Chamber-published plan on the recovery of Airports stated that a sustained multi-annual period of government funding could be needed through to 2029, in order to help the aviation sector recover.
