It’s claimed the new timeline for works aimed at alleviating water supply issues in parts of West Clare provides light at the end of the tunnel for residents who’ve suffered “third world conditions” in recent years.

Irish Water was allocated an additional 43 million euro in the July stimulus for leak reduction and improvement measures this year and now it’s confirmed that part of that fund will go towards works in the Miltown Malbay and surrounding areas.

It means the works, which were due to start in the first quarter of 2021, will be brought forward to the third quarter of this year.
