Over the coming days, Met Eireann says temperatures could fall as low as minus three degrees, with some accumulations of snow expected in areas.

It’s issued a nationwide low-level Status Yellow alert for the week, due to come into effect from 6 o clock tomorrow morning and remain in place until Saturday evening.

They say wintry showers can be expected, which will be more frequent across the southwest, west and the north.

The forecaster also says there will be widespread frost at night-time.

There’s also the potential that a more significant spell of sleet and snow could fall on Thursday.

Their warning will be updated again tomorrow morning.
