Met Éireann has reduced its status orange weather warning for Clare to a yellow one.

Storm Brian has swept across the county today, leaving strong gusts in its path but the worst appears to have passed with a low-level yellow warning in place for coastal counties.

Around 180 Home said in the Cratloe area are still without power as a result of the storm – the outage is expected to last until noon tomorrow, Sunday.

No issues have been reported on the county’s roads though motorists are being warned to stay on the lookout for any fallen debris and seaweed on the roads near the coasts.

Meanwhile, several Shannon-bound flights were forced to divert to Dublin this evening due to the winds.

Despite the downgraded weather warning, Clare County Council is still urging people to keep away from exposed coasts until the winds die down overnight.
