Shannon Sinn Féin members have selected Donna McGettigan to take the Council seat vacated following the death of Mike McKee.
McGettigan, who ran unsuccessfully in the Ennis area in last May’s local elections, is based in Shannon and was unanimously voted into the role last evening by her local party colleagues.
The Belfast native is expected to take up her seat on the local authority from February’s meeting.
