The boss of Supermacs is hopeful that construction on a Barack Obama style plaza on the outskirts of Ennis could get underway in the next year.
Pat McDonagh is to lodge a fresh application for planning permission for a motorway service station near Junction 12 of the M18 motorway in the coming weeks.
The businessman first announced plans for the project in late 2014, and at that time promised 100 new jobs as well as more positions during construction.
Fears have been expressed by some business people that the development of a service station on the motorway would hurt Ennis, as well as other towns and villages near the route, but Pat McDonagh believes it will be an asset for the county as a whole.
