Mattie Shannon Retires From Doolin Coastguard After 30 Years

The first Officer in Charge of Doolin Coastguard has stepped down after 30 years of service.

Mattie Shannon retired at an event marking the 80th anniversary of volunteer search and rescue operations in the North Clare village, which has been attended by crews from the Clare coast guard units, the fire service, civil defence and Gardaí

A plaque has also been unveiled at Doolin Coast Guard station with the names of volunteers with at least three years service who have served since 1937.
