Massey Stays Classy For Banner Farmers

Massey Ferguson remains the top tractor for farmers in Clare.

The Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport has published its annual Bulletin of Vehicle and Driver Statistics and figures show there were over 3,200 licenced tractors in this county at the end of last year.

3,230 tractors were licenced in Clare at the end of 2016, 993 of those were Massey Ferguson, the most popular of over 30 brands chosen by farmers here.

John Deere was the only model to come any way close, with 409 of these in the Banner.

Not a single Clare farmer chose a Manitou, while Honda and Farmtrac were among the least favourite with only 1 of each of them licences here.

Other popular brands include New Holland, Zetor, Case/David Browne and Ford.

While, for the posher farmer, there were 9 Lamborghinis.
