Management Downplay HIQA Concerns Over Kilrush District Hospital

Management at a West Clare nursing home are downplaying concerns raised by a HIQA report, which highlighted a number of issues of non-compliance.

The inspection at Kilrush District Hospital found that in one case, a wheelchair-bound patient had to be removed from a room so that another patient could receive a visitor because the beds were so close together.

It also stated that in another ward, two of the three windows in the room had signs saying they should not be opened – and the third overlooked the smoking area.
