Man Being Treated In UHL Following North Clare Farming Accident

A man has been airlifted to hospital after suffering serious injuries in a farm accident in North Clare.

Emergency services were alerted around 7 o’clock yesterday evening after a bale of hay rolled over the man at the farm in Fanore.

The Doolin unit of the Irish Coast Guard was requested to assist the National Ambulance Service, while the Shannon-based rescue helipcopter, Rescue 115 was also dispatched to the scene.

Ambulance paramedics and Coast Guard volunteers stretchered the injured man to the helicopter before he was airlifted to Shannon Airport.

From there, he was transported by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick, where he’s being treated for crush injuries.
